Of all the books I was forced to read in school, this is one of the few I'd maybe read again, and even recommend to other people.

I love survival books like this, and I hope to read more. He recovers, among other things, an emergency transmitter. In chapter 18, Brian ends up retrieving the valuable survival pack from the partly submerged plane in the middle of the lake.
Brian often uses the hatchet to help him get the other items that he needs to survive. These items include shelter, food, water and fire. Along with these physical items, Brian also realizes that some other types of items are needed for survival.
How does Brian store his fish? Brian tied the fish with one of his shoelaces and hung them in a tree. Brian built a holding pen out of rocks at the edge of the lake.
